Fleur of England Gives Back to Frontline Workers

29 April 2020

The Corona Virus outbreak has left many of us apprehensive, so Fleur of England thought it is more important now than ever to show a little kindness, even the smallest of things can have a very big impact at the moment. Something they have been doing to help is using their expertise and materials to make headbands, scrubs, bags and caps for nurses and doctors working on the frontline.

Their Production Manager Lucy-Ann and CEO Fleur have been using their sewing skills to make PPE for local hospitals in their spare time. Lucy-Ann has been making headbands which are used to stop their masks from rubbing, by putting the elastic around the buttons rather than their ears.

Hospitals are also in high demand for scrub caps, Fleur and Lucy-Ann have been making scrub caps for hospitals local to us in Bristol, England. In their spare time they have been making caps using fabric from Fleur of England stock of

Liberty fabrics which is a fine weave cotton lawn making them perfect for the caps. Everything that they make has to be made out of the correct type of fabric to ensure it can be washed at a minimum of 60 degrees. The caps are time consuming to make but with help from friends they have been able to provide the hospital with some of the caps they need. All of the caps have been made on domestic sewing machines and have been distributed around the hospitals/Doctors surgeries that have requested the need for them.

Lucy-Ann has also been making scrub bags for local hospitals in Newport Wales. The scrub bags are used at the end of the shift, the contaminated scrubs are put into the cotton drawstring bag which goes directly into the washing machine to avoid spreading the virus. She hopes to help with the making of scrubs this weekend with cut-work provided by a NHS supplier.

“We’re doing what we can to help our NHS at this crucial time and we hope everyone is staying safe, take care.”
